  1. The Turtles played on the second night of the Miami Pop Festival. They played on the second stage and were the final band of the night. Joni Mitchell was playing on he Main Stage at the time.

The December 30 date is wrong. I think it should be December 28.

    1. Thanks Anonymous!

BTW, according to the festival ad The Turtles played on the third day (Monday, December 30) exactly, while Joni Mitchell played on the second day (Sunday, December 29). So now you says that maybe The Turtles played on December 29 and not on 30? You was there? if so, I'll trust in you!

      cheers,
      Bruno

  2. You don't have the Turtles on Mike Douglas in 1969 or 1970 or the Barbara McNair Show in 1970.

  3. Greetings, Bruno -

Are you certain about this one: "June ?, 1968: Cleveland Heights High School, Cleveland, OH."

I think it may have been Cleveland High School in Reseda, CA. I know The Doors played at Cleveland, and I vaguely recall that The Turtles played an assembly there as well. Is this possible? Or has senility set in. :)

  4. On Friday, April 15, 1966, The Turtles appeared with The Animals at the Hammond Civic Center in Hammond, Indiana. I attended that concert. There are actually two images of ticket stubs from that concert along with the other memorabilia pictured on the inner gatefold of the double LP "Happy Together Again: The Turtles' Greatest Hits" released on Sire Records in 1974. I still have my vinyl copy of the record.

  5. Hello Bruno,
Very nice to stumble on this page!! However, I wanted to point out that if your interested in accuracy, I know who played drums live with the Turtles for the summer of 1988 - Rob Hovey was the drummer who later went to perform with other great bands. Granted I was just a "hired tech" for a series of short runs with the band but I remember the drummer as we kept in touch for a number of years after his departure, I thoroughly enjoyed working with them.
    Thanks

    1. Thanks Bill! I'm interested in accuracy, I'm a rock historian striving for accuracy! So Rob played with the band only in the summer of 1998 right?

      Cheers,

  9. Thanks Bruno for all your hard research. I wasn't there but have researched the Survey '68 show listed above as November ?, 1968. The Oregonian newspaper started advertising the show in early October. Presented by KISN "Good Guys", the show date was Saturday, October 26, 1968 at the Portland Memorial Coliseum. The lineup as advertised: Canned Heat, Prof. Morrison's Lollipop Band, The Grass Roots, The Deep Purple, & The Turtles. This was the play order of the bands according to a pearl-clutching review by Charlie Hanna the following day, Oct 27. If you'd like the pdf newspapers, just let me know. Thx much.

  13. HELP! I attended a concert in either the Summer of 1967 or 1968 and saw the Turtles and also on the bill was Mitch Ryder & the Detroit Wheels and the Magnificent Men. It was an outdoor show at Willow Grove Park (an Amusement Park) in Willow Grove, PA. I remember vividly riding a rollercoaster called the ALPS and Howard & Mark were in the car in front of us. Have never seen this show listed, but your tracking down Rock History is unparalleled. Thanks Bruno!!

  14. The Savoy , Shelby Hotel, Jan 14 - thru the 16 Detroit Michigan I saw one of those shows. Mark signed my High School year book in the lobby . For a joke I paid for Flo and Eddie to be Patrons in the book . Howlin Wolf played around the same time. I couldn't see both shows so I picked Mark and Howard over Howlin Wolf . Carlo V.

  15. Excellent compilation. Add Main Point, Ardmore, PA January 7, 1975. Saw two great shows including live "Popstar" and NatLamp's "Colorado". Got a copy of the "Let Me Make Love To You "45 that was in the window for nothing. Meet Mark & Howard after the second show.
