THE WEST COAST POP ART EXPERIMENTAL BAND #2 (JUN 1966 - 1967)

July 1966: The Other Place, 9680 Santa Monica Boulevard, Beverly Hills, CA
The band played in this "members-only go-go club" like every Wednesday night. This shows became a social events in Beverly Hills at that time.   

1966: The Daisy, 326 N Rodeo Drive, Beverly Hills, CA
Legendary musician and producer Kim Fowley remember saw them play once at this popular "members-only go-go club".

1966: Wild Thing, 1835 N Cahuenga Boulevard, Downtown Hollwood, CA
The band played in this "psych/garage club" as house band for some months.

1966: Stratford On Sunset, 8428 Sunset Boulevard, Sunset Strip, West Hollywood, CA
This was a "soul venue" sometimes known as the 'Castle On The Strip'. In the spring of 67 this venue became the 'Monterey International Pop Festival' planning office.

September 17, 1966: Shrine Exposition Hall, Los Angeles, CA with The Mothers Of Invention, The Factory, Little Gary Ferguson, Kenny Dino, The Count Five

September 27 - October 1, 1966: The Ark, Gate 6, Sausalito, CA with Light Voyage 

October 29, 1966: Great Western Exhibit Center, 2120 South Eastern Avenue, Los Angeles, CA with The Seeds, Rain ("ESP"), The Fabs, The New Generation, Davie Allan and The Arrows, Les Watson and The Panthers "KRLA Presents Monster Halloween Freak-Off Dance"

March 17-26, 1967: Hollywood Palladium, Los Angeles, CA with International Submarine Band, The Blues Magoos and many others "6th Annual Teen Age Fair"
For this event John Ware chose to run the light show and hire a drummer called Frank LaPica to filling in for him tonight.

March 26, 1967: Elysian Park, Los Angeles, CA with The Daily Flash, Peanut Butter Conspiracy, Clear Light, The Rainy Daze, The Factory, The Other Half, Flamin' Groovies, Steve Miller Blues Band, Sopwith Camel (canceled), Iron Butterfly, The Turtles, The Nazz, Grateful Dead, The Seventh Son, Firesign Theatre & New Generation "Easter Sunday Love-In"

March 31 - April 1, 1967: Valley Music Theatre, 20600 Ventura Boulevard, Woodland Hills, CA with The Association, Flesh & Blood, Lights by Out Of Sight Lite Show

May 12-13, 1967: The Kaleidoscope at Ciro's, 8433 West Sunset Boulevard, West Hollywood, CA with Canned Heat, The New Age

June 2, 1967: Pasadena Civic Auditorium, 300 East Green Street, Pasadena, CA with The 5th Dimension (filling for The Doors), Canned Heat, Love

July 22, 1967: Santa Monica Civic Auditorium, Santa Monica, CA with The Yardbirds, Moby Grape (canceled?), Strawberry Alarm Clock, Iron Butterfly, Captain Beefheart and His Magic Band
Opening act Strawberry Alarm Clock left with the only PA, leaving the rest to perform without amplification.

September 16, 1967: Earl Warren Showgrounds, Santa Barbara, CA with The Seeds, The Midnighters, Chocolate Watchband

  1. I think I saw them once at a "Battle of the Bands" in Portland Oregon's Memorial Coliseum but I may be deluded.

  2. Saw em at the Teenage fair. first time I had seen smoke machines. Along with the strobes, the tent and the over the top psychedelic tunes, quite the musical experience for a 14 year old kid.
